GM Toledo Unit – Women’s Committee

The Local 14 GM Unit Women’s Committee would like to welcome all of our union brothers and sisters back to work whether it is from lay-off status or new to the plant from another GM facility.

As we all come back to work we have a tendency to want to take care of others and forget ourselves in the process, as we work long hours we sometimes forget about our own health.  Please take the time to get your yearly exams.

October is an especially important month not only for women, but also for men; it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  If you don’t live in Toledo, find out about and join your city’s Walk for the Cure or any other breast cancer awareness program.  Union sisters and brothers make sure you get your yearly mammogram for yourself and for your loved ones (wife, girlfriends, daughters etc.)

The Women’s Committee has a few more events that we will be hosting for the year like our annual Flea Market which will be on Sunday, September 12, 2010, starting at 9 a.m.  We will also be hosting Bingo at our UAW Local 14’s 75th Anniversary Celebration which will be Saturday, September 11, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.  We will also be passing out treats to the children at the Labor Day Parade on Monday, September 6, 2010.  Please come out and support the Women’s Committee and celebrate with us.

We are looking for new members with new ideas and input on what you want your Women’s Committee to do better to serve you.  Women and men are invited to participate.  Our meetings are every second Thursday of the month at the Union Hall.
